The Coast (Poberezh'e) is an annual Russian literary almanac, the fifteenth edition of which has been recently published. It features prominent poets, writers and artists from the former USSR who have lived in the USA. Among the authors are Vasiliy Aksenov, Vasiliy Yanovsky, Josef Brodsky, Dmitry Bobyshev, Vadim Kreyd, Ludmila Shtern, Valentina Sinkevich, Sergey Dovlatov, Nina Berberova, Mark Popovsky, Ernst Neizvestniy, Serge Hollerbach, Andrey Grizman, Irina Mashinski, Boris Filipoff, Tatiana Aist, Euginia Zhiglevich, Anatoly Liberman and many other names.

The Coast (Poberezh'e) contains sections of Poetry, Prose, Literary Critique, Biographical Portraits, Translations, and Fine Arts, as well as biographical data of each participating author.

The goal of the almanac is not only to present authors who are already well-known in the literary circles, but also to introduce many new talented individuals.

The almanac presents different styles of literature: classic as well as modern. Some of the publications may be experimental in style, but all of them are well-crafted and continue the best traditions of Russian literature and poetry.

Since all authors have come from countries with different cultures and social and economic backgrounds, their works are significant and sometimes fascinating for the readers of different countries.

They provide honest and passionate appeal, power, emotions, lyricism and are well balanced with philosophical conclusions, crystallized on the wide-spectrum of experience.

The Coast attracted immediate attention not only in the USA, the place it was born in 1992, but also in cities and towns of Canada and Europe.

The almanac was highly praised by radio, television, and newspapers, such as Voice of America, Novoye Russkoye Slovo, Panorama, The Soviet and Post-Soviet Review, etc. It enjoys huge success among the Russian Community. However, it can be interesting for American readers studying Russian as well.

The Coast may be used as useful teaching or research material in Colleges and Universities with Slavic Departments.

It has been ordered by the libraries of Harvard, Munich, Oxford, Columbia, Berkeley, Princeton and other Universities.

The almanac also includes philosophical essays, novels, and translations.
